The Park is a popular 80 room tourist hotel with a substantial and popular restaurant operation and some meeting / conference business. Along with the pub nearby we are the main eating establishment. We’re located in National Park Village, Ruapehu District catering to a predominantly domestic clientele through the winter months and (pre Covid) a broad mix of international and domestic guests over spring and summer. Winter attraction is primarily skiing & snowboarding at NZ’s two largest ski areas, Whakapapa and Turoa. In summer a key attraction is the Tongariro Alpine Crossing walk along with mutli-day hikes, mountain biking, fishing etc. It’s a great area if you’re into the outdoors but no good if bars, restaurants and nightlife are your thing! Our season is very similar to Queenstown, strong most of the year but quiet May / June – we just don’t get their room rates!

We need a Head Chef to work alongsind our team - ordering, cost control & cooking. The Head chef needs to be in there boots n all with our other chefs and support staff. We’re open 7 days a week for breakfast and dinner. Our menu is quite straight forward such that any competent chef would get a handle on it in no time.

Benefits - Accommodation is available which is about an 8 minute walk from the hotel (or 1 minute driving!)There is not a lot to spend your money so most of what is earned is saved. Season passes are available to employees at a heavily discounted rate.  We are also v flexible with the employment period. Anything from 3-4 months to permanent. We’ll work in with potential candidates.

If there is a couple that are interested it’s highly likely we can find a role for the partner also. We respect all nationalities and life style choices – so as long as they can do the job we’re happy.
