Base Staff Position Boat Hire Co

WANT TO SPEND THE SUMMER SEASON WORKING IN, ON AND AROUND BOATS here in Waikawa Marina, in the MARLBOROUGH SOUNDS? 

We need someone to join our small friendly team for the upcoming season. 

We are a small family run yacht charter company, we have yachts, launches and runabouts in our charter fleet which need to be kept to a high standard. 

The majority of the work is done here in Waikawa Marina, either at the base (office) or on the boats in the marina, getting them ready for clients to take out on charter over the season. The Queen Charlotte Sound is a truly beautiful area to live and work and the marina has a great summer vibe that is lovely to be a part of. Lots of outdoor activities to do and places to explore on your days off and Picton is a lovely little seaside town.

This position covers all sorts - Mostly cleaning and checking the boats, loading and preparing the boats for clients as well as briefing clients on the boats. Washing decks, refilling water tanks, organising the stores at the base etc. This is a physically active job and you need to be healthy and free from injury. Prior to the season start, preparation of the boats for the season, polishing decks, spring cleans etc. will be undertaken.

There is face to face interaction with customers, including boat/systems/area briefings onboard the vessels. Confidence talking to and enjoyment of dealing with people is a must - this is their holiday after all!!

If you have boating experience, the job could include some basic boat maintenance, meeting boats to refuel them, catching lines and so on. A broad knowledge of boat systems is an advantage.

It is a fun, varied and interesting job that requires an all hands on deck attitude.

• honest and well presented
• healthy and physically fit - it is a active job.
• have an eye for detail
• flexible with work hours/days due to the seasonal nature of our industry
• needs a clean Full drivers license.

We need someone to start from early November 26 and stay with us for the summer season through to approx. Easter 27. Exact dates to be arranged.

This is a casual position so you need to be flexible for the role to fit with hours & days of work available. Weekends, school holidays etc. 

Pay will depend on your experience and what you bring to the job - between $25 - 28/hr.
