Operations Manager Berry Farm

We're looking for a people-focused leader to join a rapidly growing hydroponic berry farm just 30 minutes from Timaru. This is not a grower role – we're seeking an experienced operations professional who excels at leading people, planning ahead, and keeping multiple teams aligned and performing at their best.

Working alongside an industry-leading General Manager, you'll play a key role in leading daily operations as the business enters an exciting growth phase and doubles in size over the next 12 months.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading supervisors, team leaders, and seasonal workforces of 100+ staff during peak periods
• Managing multiple operational areas and teams simultaneously
• Workforce planning, resource allocation, and scheduling
• Driving productivity, efficiency, and operational performance
• Building a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture
• Identifying potential challenges and implementing solutions before issues arise
• Ensuring health & safety, quality, and food safety standards are maintained

What We're Looking For

• Proven leadership experience in horticulture, agriculture, or a production-based environment
• A strong people leader who can motivate, develop, and manage large teams
• Excellent planning, organisational, and multitasking abilities
• A proactive leadership style that focuses on prevention rather than reaction
• Experience coordinating multiple teams and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Full NZ Class 1 Driver Licence
