Expectations & Realism - Hard graft. Real money. ***THIS IS THE BUSIEST TIME OF YEAR ON A NZ DAIRY FARM***

• It's winter, it's early, it's real farm work. Starts at 3am, often in the cold and dark. Days run 10–12 hours.

   

• It's Dirty. Poo, pee, effluent, chemical smells — this is dairy farming, and it's part of the job every single day.

   

• It's Hard: on your feet all day, in all weather, 

   

• The first 2–3 weeks are the hardest.

  •  your body is building strength and stamina it doesn't have yet. 
  • expect to be tired — that's normal, not a sign you're failing.

   

1. Do you Lift weights, run half marathons??

    

2. are you on a working holiday visa?

    

3. have you had experience with LARGE stock animals, preferably cows?

    

4. do you have your own transport to get to the farm?

    

5. can you commit for at least 2 months?

Power. Internet and some meat provided (farm by farm basis)

$26 per hour. 

Approx 50-60 hours a week (for 1 month) then 50 hrs once all the babies are born
